Travelogue Japan Day 2-Shinjuku Redux Part 1

A few stops along the loop line from Shibuya will get you to Shinjuku, another area of shops, restaurants and entertainment.  More adult entertainment than most places in the Kabukicho area.  this is also the busiest station on the Yamanote line.

Entering Kabukicho, you cant help but feel like you are being watched by someone.  Someone tall green(maybe black) and toothy.

Looming large over the streets of the red light district Godzilla stands guard against any nuclear irradiated monster that may be in the area for a drink or a fight.

Godzilla stands atop the Toho Cinema, or at least his head and neck and 1 arm.  He looks directly into a room in the Hotel Gracery.  That room hes peeking into is a specially themed room.  Themed after the big guy.

In the western part of Shinjuku lies the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buidling or Tocho.  Its twin towered upper upper floors contain observations decks that are free to the public.  The north and south towers are both open to at least 1900 but one of them is open until 2100.  I forget which.

This view from the north tower looks down on Yasukuni dori which leads to the station and seperates it from Kabukicho.  The Keio Plaza hotel blocks any actual views of the downtown area.  A cafe blocks a few of the windows in the north tower unless you are willing to partake of its offerings
