Travelogue Japan Day 5-Universal Studios Japan Part 2

We continues through the park towards the New York area.  I have only been to NY once myself.  It seems they were going for more the retro look of the city.  the predominant cuisine of the eateries in the area was italian with pizza and pasta.

A yellow taxi in the middle of the street was a popular place for many tourists to take selfies and pictures.  On the steps nearby, I witnessed a couple taking wedding pictures

The Spiderman 4D ride is housed here.  they have alot of 4D rides here and they consist of a virtual ride with 3D effects via supplied glasses.  The extra D comes in the form of wisps of air or spray of water at appropriate times.

Around the corner, there is a stage that is probably used for performances but none where schedule during my time.

Down the street leads us back to the Hollywood area and the entrance.

A 4D ride that is probably very sickly sweet with lots of bright pastel colors

While most of the 4D rides were single themed, this location near the entrance had different themes depending on the time of day you would like up for it.  In the AM, it was Attack of the Titans and Evangelion took over in the PM.  I did not figure this out until too late as I waited until the afternoon for the line to die down before I participated.

The popcorn stand outside the theater sold caramel popcorn which can be bought in Evangelion Unit 01 heads

Since Attack on Titans was part of the show, this wall with a Titan breaking through was erected for photos

Titans like to eat humans, you can purchase  a photo of yourself and group members being eaten alive.

When rides or attractions  are very popular and large lines may form around them, a ticketing system is put in place to designate a time for you come back.  In the morning harry Potter was very busy and I got a ticket for entry an hour later.  Later in the day,, the area was opened up to everyone, no ticket needed.

Harry Potter world is quite hidden from the rest of the park.  You may be able to see the spires of Hogwarts from the park entrance but there is no other evidence from the inside of the park.  You follow a long path, passing the crashed flying car, to the the gates of Hogsmeade

Hogwart Express greets you upon entry

Snow covered roofs and crooked chimneys form the skyline

your first chance at buying butter beer.  The second is near the ride at Hogwarts.  Ive heard it taste kind of nasty but those who bought it seemed to enjoy it

Three broomsticks is the main restaurant.  If you feel like fish and chips, you would come here as it is their featured item.

Some storefronts have animated displays and are just  facades.  The actual stores can be peered in to through the glass to see if you can squeeze into the small crowded shops.

The 4D ride is housed in the dark bowels of Hogwarts.

The group dynamic once again at play while waiting in line.  Most of the line snakes its way behind the attraction giving those interested very little indication to the waiting time that lies before them

a small jet coaster not too far makes for a great alternative.  Id dont know if its me getting older but this ride made me nauseated.  They did have warnings posted about this but I could normally disregard it.  My original intention was to have lunch ride after but I had to walk if off for an hour before being able to even entertain the idea fo food.   Also, I have no idea why the halls inside the line had to be so dark.   I kept bumping into everyone around me as we made our way to our cars.

This is just one of the shops but they were all like this on the inside.  This place sold robes and wands.

Feeling a wee bit better, I was in Jaws land.  No fish and chips but chicken and chips.  I probably should have gone with the crab cake sandwich if I was in a seafood mood.

2 pieces of deep fried chicken,  one piece of dark meat and one piece of white meat, with a beverage of your choice.

Over by the main entrance at the intersection is a number of souvenir shops.  Here you can get all the character goods that are available in the different areas of the park in a less crowded atmosphere.

You will find Hello Kitty, Spiderman, Sesame Street, Minions, and Peanuts.  Charlie Brown has been called a blockhead and here the manifestation of that remark.

Spiderman gets his own instant ramen. No other characters can lay claim to that

Daruma of your favorite Peanuts gang

And probably the most popular of the characters found in the park, judging by the cosplayers, the Minions.  I did see a few people dressed as Mario Bros.  I did not know the link until after the visit.  Turns out there will be a Mario Bros themed attraction being slated for the future.

An assortment of wands, just like those in Harry Potter land, but this store is not as jam packed.
