Travelogue Japan-Day 2 The East Side

To take advantage of the jet lag, our first destination was Tsukiji Market.  We didnt get up early enough doe the fish market but definitely came to grab something for breakfast

While known for the wholesale fish auction, they also do a brisk business in produce.  Start the day with a nice bit of sliced fruit

A bit sweeter is strawberry with mochi and usually some type of filling like custard, red bean, etc.  Japan does grow white strawberries

Sticks of meat are a little more substantial.  A few vendors clain to offer Kobe beef.  the usual assorment includes chicken, beef, pork in various iterations

Of course you can get fresh fish ready to eat as sashimi or packaged to go for cooking at home

Now I dont eat raw sushi.  While my friends went into a restaurant to sample a variety of delicacies, I searched for some cooked seafood

The grilled scallop was very nice with butter used to simmer the meat over the grill.  Along with that, grilled oysters hit the spot.  The juices from the mollusks mix with the butter make for nice slurping afterwards

Most of that was at the outter market.  I roamed further and entered the inner market.  Out at the street there is some offal server over rice

Some of the more famous sushi stalls in Tsukiji are located here and the lines start very early in the morning

We walked to ginza and went to the flaship Uniqlo store where my friends shopped for a good bit

I, on the other hand, spotted the current offering from Coca Cola,  Its a zero calories drink named simply enough Clear.  Its supposed to be Coke with a hint of citrus.  This was a forshadow of things to come as I did not care for thus.

Before we head back for what seemed like a very long and tiring day, we went to Ramen Ave at Tokyo Station's First Avenue.  We ended up at Tonari because they could accommodate 10 people.  I ordered the set with karaage.  I devoured the chicken and barely finished the ramen.  This was similar to Ramen Jiro.  A ton of bean sprouts, little soup, and thick noodles.  To top it off, a dash of grated ginger.  Again, not my favorite combination
