Travelogue London Borough Market
Open on Thurs, Fri, and Sat, Borough Market is located just outside London Bridge Station at the Borugh High St exit. I was initailly under the assumption it would have been at Borough Station.
Its fairly large and quite spread out. Theres no pattern to the way stalls and tents are set up
The perimeter is bordered by other shops, pubs, and restaurants that occupy their spaces beyond the market hours
This is one popular coffee roaster. The crowds on this may have helped to fuel the queue. Wonder if its the same when the market is not operting
An annex of the main restaurant, this stall was selling sandwiches made with beef or as well as other items
I opted for an other item, a pork scotch egg. An egg incased in pork enveloped by a coating and deep fried
There are many things to find inclduing baked goods, vegetables, meat and seafood, cheeses, and dry goods
There is so much food on offer here as well
The paella vendor had paella, foreground, thai green curry, and vietnamese curry, background
Aside from the cooked food vendors, many of the other vendors were cooking up their products for sale and consumption
Fruit and wine sellers were selling various types of hot ciders and mulled wine
Butchers of exotic meat and game had sandwiches made of ostrich, wild boar, and venison
The fishmongers were selling oysters in a half shell and fish soup
I guess you cant get game any fresher than this
Buster? Wake up Buster! BUSTER!! (Inside reference)
While leaving as the market was beginning to close around 17:00, I espied a new addition to the London skyline. The newest is also the tallest building in London and perhaps the European Union. Known as the Shard because it looks like a shard of glass There is an observation deck up there but its pay-per-view
For dinner, I bought the thai green curry with mussels, calamari, and chicken over rice. The sauce was made with green chilis and coconut milk. I wonder if they over filled it due to the late hour. I had to hold the container with both hands all the way back to my hotel. Two subway lines and one transfer and it safely mde it back for me to enjoy.
