Soup, it does a body good

On a cold day, nothing beats a nice bowl of soup. Hot clear broth has its purposes but I love a nice bowl of hearty chowder, noodle soup piled high with ingredients, or a stick to the ribs stew. The thick chowder not only warms the body but the creamy flavor in addition to the briny flavor of clams elevates me to a higher mental state. Noodle soups abound in Asia. A nice pho from Vietnam has a rich beefy flavor with rice noodles and thin slices of beef. Whenever I visit Tokyo in winter, I have ramen at least once. Some of which have been chronicled here in previous posts. The accompaniment of miso soup to most meals is also welcomed. Korea has a some great stews made with kimchi and tofu as well as other additions.
