Travelogue Germany-Day 4 Another day, another currywurst/markthalle

Today started off with a pancake from the automated machine.  It was a lighter blonde.  The chocolate syrup that topped it was mistaken for regular syrup

Yesterday I learned U bahn goes above ground and today I learned S bahn goes underground.  The team always stays at street level

They also serve most of the area north of the Spree

The last currywurst to taste is at Konnopes imbiss.

All in all they taste the same to me.  The only difference is preparation.  The skin seems to have pulled away from the filling.

Nearby is Prate Garten, a beer garden.  Like many places like this, they are waiting for the warmth of spring to open the outdoor seating.  The restaurant is open but not for lunch

The Berlin Wall Memorial is free to the public.  The Berlin Wall Museum charges a fee

Exhibits within the memorial document the history and the experiences of the wall

An observation deck gives you a bird's eye view of the portion preserved for posterity.  The mood here is more solemn and respectful than Checkpoint Charlie

I don't know if they set it up this way but there is a cemetery just behind

There's also  a nice view of the skyline

At street level, you could almost have a first hand view of what it was like during the years of the walls existence

Peering through the slots of the fence

Going to a another markthalle for lunch.  I don't know if it was was lunchtime or what but the kebab place smelled great from underground
.

Marheineke Markthalle was the opposite feel to Neun that I went to last might

Airy and bright with a good number of people in attendance to show its vibrancy but not overcrowded

In the middle and northern aisles were providers like green grocers, butchers, bakers, etc

Along the southern wall near the large windows is where all the eateries are lined up

Like many places a variety of cuisines to choose from.  Seats were few but not full

Still looking for German food, I got the frikadelle combo.  Seemed like a real decent price to me including a soda

Frikadelle is in the same family as boulette.  A patty or ball of meat that's fried.  The boulette ball I had last night used a coarser grind of meat.  This was much finer and flavor more enjoyable.  Can you believe this is the first kartoffelsala on this trip

The restaurant at Prater Garten doesn't open til 1800.  Work is progressing to open the beer garden.  Their website is soliciting seasonal workers

The interior is what I expected with dark brown wood on the floor, tables and bar.

I already knew I was going to order the wiener schnitzel.  A thin seal steak breaded and fried with a nice crispy coating.  The potato salad, my second in a day, was not mayo based and had abit of tang.  The cucumber salad was a nice departure in texture and flavor
