Travelogue London RAF Museum 2

Along with fighters, bombers were on display.  If nothing else, these bombers had a large affect on World War II.  The British had their own and the Americans helped out by sending a nfew of ours to help.  These first few are the British Liberator

They needed alot of horsepower to get these aloft and get their payload to their target.  Not in the jet age yet so this had 4 prop driven motors

The unenviable tail turret.  There are a number of machine gun posts to help protect it self since it could not out maneuver or out run a fighter

The Lancaster

Tail gunner

American B-17

The belly gunner had one fatal design flaw.  If the landing gears do not deply and a belly landing is emminent... You get the idea

This too had a tail gunner position

Off to one corner of the hall is parked a Vulcan.  Since it is directly facing the corner, it was hard to take pictures

The best view was from the rear at an elevated platform near the B-17.  It has a delta wing design similar to the modern B-2 in the US.  Basically a big flying wing
