Dongdaemun is one stop from where I am staying. There a number of retailers in established buildings and along the streets and alley ways. The 2 major ones along this street are Migliore and Doosan. A bit further north are more sprawling complexes.

Both these stores provide mainly clothing for everyone but have food courts and restaurants among the top floors. After walking around for a while, the place started to bore me because there was nothing I wanted to look at.

Much of this area runs along the Cheonggye Stream. A reclaimed waterway that was previously paved over has been restored and embraced by locals and foreigners alike. The stream begins at Gwanghwamun and runs east Dongdaemun.

The namesake of the area is the eastern gate

On the long way back to the hotel, night had fallen and people were still milling about as the street clothing vendors began to close up shop
